Mahopac Falls Fire and EMS were dispatched around 3:25 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 23 to a home at 72 Mexico Lane, in Mahopac, said Jack Casey, public information officer for Mahopac Falls VFD.

First arriving units confirmed a working fire and requested all equipment from both stations respond to the incident.

Chief Jeff Boyle assumed command as First Assistant Chief Bob Trace took charge of operations.

As the fire grew, the department called for a ladder truck and the Putnam County Fire Investigation team to the scene, with the Somers Fire Department sending a truck to cover the standby.

Fire crews hand-laid hose lines in from the road down the long driveway and immediately began a heavy exterior attack.

During the height of the fire, Mahopac Falls also was responding to multiple ambulance calls, with Mahopac and Somers covering some of the calls.

One person received injuries, and the home is inhabitable at this time.
